It happened in the westbound lanes of Street Road near the Route 1 overpass around 10:15 p.m. on July 6, the department said.

Two teens were crossing the road mid-block when an oncoming sedan swerved left to avoid them, according to police. The sedan "possibly" hit the second juvenile, 14, as he was standing in the middle lane, they added.

The 14-year-old was hit again by a Hyundai Tuscon while he was laying in the road, the department said.

Police said the teen died from his injuries. His name was not reported.

Both drivers immediately stopped, but authorities said the sedan driver "got back in his vehicle and left the scene prior to police arrival." He continued west on Street Road toward Lower Southampton while the Hyundai driver remained at the scene, police said.

The sedan is described as dark-colored and thought to be a Honda. It may have damage on the lower portion of its front end, investigators added.

The driver is being asked to contact Bensalem police. Anyone else with information can call the department at 215-633-3719 or leave an anonymous tip on the Bucks County Crime Watch webpage
